Hi All,

Saturday we took on Unley at the Cave. What a great day! Past players day, a 200 gamer, an Anzac Day ceremony and 3 huge wins was brilliant to see!

Firstly, I would like to thank all of the Past players for their attendance. It was brilliant to see a lot of familiar faces and some great characters of our footy club!

Secondly, thank you to Steve Jacquier / Mike Hamilton and our committee for organising the Anzac Day ceremony on the day.

A big congratulations to Nick Iordanou on playing 200 games for the club. EO is one of the great characters of our footy club and celebrated in style kicking 11 goals!

On to the A grade game, after having 2 weeks (due to Easter) to stew on our Rnd 2 loss to Broadview we were very keen to get back on the park and back in the winner’s circle.

Our focus going into the game was playing the game in our half of the ground and creating some deeper forward entries to allow some more scoreboard pressure. Unfortunately, the scoreboard pressure came but accuracy did not, we went into half time 4 goals 10 to Unley’s 2 goals 1.

The first half was a touch scratchy in very windy conditions but all of the key stats were in our favour and (as coaches) we were confident we could put a comfortable gap on Unley on the scoreboard. This turned out to be the case and we finished the game as 11 goal (66 point) winners.

Once again, we saw 3 A grade debutants in Jacob Owens, Aidan Lock and Alex Menzel. All three are under 20 and acquitted themselves very well on the day.

Congratulations to Austin Forbes who won the Anzac day medal for us (voted by Unley). Aussie played a different role on the weekend as a inside midfielder and collected 20 possessions and 2 goals!

Tom Derham had a brilliant game again, he has been a very handy addition to our club and he was like a wall across half back for us all day.

Henry Papatolis continued his brilliant form and was supported well by Dylan Morton and Finn Betterman in the midfield.

Once again, Declan Grant kicked 4 goals and together with Justin Whitford (2 goals) provided a strong targets up forward for us.

This week we are on the road to play Gaza at Gaza. Both clubs have had strong rivalries from Division 1 days and this game will provide another huge test for us.

See you at the footy.
